This engaging 45-minute concert-lecture explores how mythological stories have inspired composers across centuries. Through music and storytelling, audiences will encounter legendary figures including Zeus, Orpheus, Penelope, and heroes of the Trojan War, discovering how composers transform ancient myths into vivid musical narratives.
The program features Concordia Conservatory faculty artists Katherine Lerner Lee, soprano, Monica Bauchwitz, violin, and Marija Ilic, piano, performing works by Schubert, Schumann, Musto, and Vaughan Williams.
“Mythology has long inspired composers and poets alike,” said Kathleen Suss, Executive Director of Concordia Conservatory. “This program brings those timeless stories to life through music and conversation, allowing audiences to experience the powerful connection between poetry, legend, and musical expression.”
The More Than Music series combines performance with conversation, giving audiences an intimate look at the artistry and insight of Concordia Conservatory’s distinguished faculty in an intimate and welcoming setting.
