Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe Show Up in Full Force For March Madness 3-on-3 Youth Community Fund Tournament

April 7, 2026: Bronxville showed up in full force on Monday, April 6th, as students, families, neighbors, and local leaders gathered on Park Place for the Inaugural 3-on-3 March Madness Basketball Tournament.
This Tournament, inspired by the Final Four, created a shared local experience and raised money for the Youth Community Fund (YCF). The Youth Community Fund, a subsidiary of The Community Fund, raises money for Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe to support local foundations while interacting with our communities.
This idea came to life in a discussion with several community leaders including YCF Co-Chairs, Beth McKeighan and Denise Mulvihill, Mayor Mary Marvin, Bronxville School Superintendent Dr. Rachel Kelly, Bronxville Chief of Police Christopher Satriale, Bronxville Police Department Head of Community relations Fadi Khader, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Leslie Corcoran and President, Vanessa O’Friel, and many local merchants and parents including John Augustyn and Chris O’Gorman.
From the opening tip-off, led by Mayor Marvin and Dr. Kelly, to the final buzzer, the games reflected the best of Bronxville and its surrounding communities, embodying the values of togetherness, support, connection, generosity, and, of course, fun!
Many residents came out to experience the game as well as the transformation of Park Place into a basketball "court" filled with team spirit. Branded merchandise was also sold, and speculators were able to get their faces painted to show their support, while enjoying delicious local food and refreshments.
The competition, which included ten teams with kids of all ages, and a team composed of "our finest" from the Bronxville Police Department, was fierce and fun. Bryan Coperman, a seasoned basketball coach from the Masters School, officiated the four-minute games and managed the single-elimination bracket.
In the final game, a team of Bronxville sophomores went up against three members from the Bronxville Police Department. It was fast-paced and intense until the final buzzer, when the Bronxville Police Department won it all and became our first-ever YCF March Madness Champions.
About the event, Mayor Marvin said, "It was a fabulous event, the feeling of warmth and community and just plain fun was contagious. We are on board for any and all future events."
Dr. Kelly remarked that the students' "commitment to service learning is a powerful reflection of our Bronxville Promise. Through these meaningful opportunities, they are not only expanding their academic experiences but also developing a deep sense of responsibility, empathy, and civic pride."
She also expressed appreciation for "the strong and enduring partnership we share with our Village government, led by Mayor Marvin, and our police department, led by Chief Satriale. Their collaboration, guidance, and support help create authentic, real-world learning experiences that truly enrich our students’ growth. This Village is an exceptional place—one where education, public service, and community spirit come together in a way that is both inspiring and rare. It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated partners in shaping the next generation of thoughtful, engaged citizens."
More than just the games and competition, the event was a reminder of what makes Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe special - communities that show up, support each other, and create memorable experiences.

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
